
iRAP Wins Katahira Award

iRAP has won the prestigious Katahira Award for best technical paper at the 13th Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA) conference in Incheon City, Korea.
The winning paper, Saving Lives Through Investment in Safer Roads: The iRAP Partnership, explains the importance of building strong partnerships between organisations involved in safety, provides an overview of the iRAP methodology and includes illustrative results from current programmes.
The award was presented by Dato' Sri. Prof. Ir Dr Judin Abdul Karim, Malaysia Public Works Department and incoming REAAA President, and Mr. Lieu Chull-Ho, CEO of Korea Expressway Corp and Chairman of the Korea Road and Transportation Association.
The Katahira Awards were established in 1991 in memory of the late Dr. Nobutaka Katahira who was the REAAA's President for the 5th Council term from 1983 to 1986. The main objective of the Awards is to encourage keen participation among young engineers in the promotion and advancement of science and technology in road development and road-related engineering.
